It’s not a joke

Put an agent, a publisher and an e-book seller in a room together and what do you get? No, not pistols at dawn, but a fascinating debate on the future of books and publishing. This edition of the BBC Radio 4 programme The Bottom Line is available to listen to for a year. Worth 30 minutes of your time.

  1. Thanks for the link. Interesting listening. A shame they didn’t also have an author on as part of the discussion, but still I found it interesting what they all thought about the future of the bookshop.

    Thanks for sharing.

    1. You’re welcome. I was fascinated too, and I agree that they should have involved an author – or perhaps two, one mainstream and an e-booker. I think writers need to be open to the way things are changing – and change, whilst unsettling, is not inevitably a bad thing. As for bookships, I just hope people will fight for the rebirth of their local bookshop in some new and more contemporary form, the way some are fighting for the survival of their local libraries.
